Haven't tried this one out for myself yet, but it's sure worth mentioning: Google has released a open beta for Google Desktop for Linux.Some feature:
- search and index Gmail and your Web-history
- intergrates with some Google online services (e.g., Search)
- support file versioning
- wide range of filetypes are supported
