Maybe it's around for longer, but I saw this for the first time in Ubuntu 7.04.


GNOME (2.18) prompts to empty the Trash (.Trash_user directory) on removable storage when umounting these. Now this is a good way for preventing a thumbdrive to run out of diskspace after trashing data.
